Eurogate containers has bumper year.

CONTAINER terminal operator Eurogate has achieved record handling figures in 2004. Its volume went up by more than 800,000 teu to 11.53m teu, writes Herbert Fromme in Cologne.

Financial turnover is expected to reach € 475m ($619m), up from €415m.

The company forecast a net profit of €50m, a considerable rise over the €34m of 2003. Detailed figures will be published in May.

The company is controlled by Eurokai of Hamburg and Bremer Lagerhausgesellschaft of Bremen; it operates terminals in Germany, Italy and Portugal. 'Strongest growth came from the Eurogate Container terminal in Hamburg,' a …
