Jan. 27--SUMMERVILLE--Residents of the rapidly growing areas south and west downtown Summerville could soon learn the location of a much-needed new high school.
Dorchester District 2 officials are awaiting the results of soil tests on a possible site for the high school, Superintendent Joe Pye said.
The school will be built somewhere between the Oakbrook and Knightsville areas, and the location could be announced within the next two weeks.
The new high school, with an estimated cost of $38.7 million, will open in fall 2008 with 800 students and expand to 1,500. It will take some of the load off Summerville High School,…
