The new head of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Arlen Specter, has announced that he intends to get the stalled asbestos-compensation bill moving again.
Senator Specter started hearings on 11 January regarding the best way to achieve some form of agreement from all parties involved. If the bill is approved by the committee, it could arrive on the floor of the Senate by early February, although Senator Specter admitted that this would be difficult.
