KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 (Bernama) -- Share prices on Bursa Malaysia closed lower on profit taking in index-linked and speculative counters amidst lack of market moving news, dealers said.

"There were some profit taking on heavyweight counters after two days of consecutive sharp gains," a dealer said.

At close, the 100-quality share Composite Index slipped 2.03 points to 935.53 points after opening 2.65 points higher at 940.21.

The finance counters, however, bucked the trend led by Public Bank, Maybank and Commerce-Asset and posted good gains.
