At this time of the year, it's always tempting to make New Year's Resolutions, as if writing them down will automatically make one a better person.
As a younger woman, I tried it a few times. No matter how much I wrote about them, nothing happened. They never got etched into my brain, so they were forgotten and I didn't feel pressured to do anything about them.
Since it's much easier to make resolutions for other people, that's what I've decided to do.
This month a national leader will be taking an oath "to faithfully execute the office of President of the United States," so it's a good place to start.
We assume he really wants to serve the 57% of the nation's students in higher education who are women--and those women on campus whose job it is to teach and make policy for them.
