A technology professor at New Jersey's William Patterson University is helping to build a house for an impoverished family in Guatemala through her Web designing skills and networking with students and colleagues.
Kristen Palana came in contact with an 11-year-old Guatemalan girl through Children International, a nonprofit organization. Realizing the extent of young Aura Hernandez's poverty, Palana asked student and faculty volunteers to help build the girl's family a home by raising money over the Internet.
