To settle a lawsuit over improving the grades of football players, Louisiana State University will pay a former adjunct kinesiology instructor $150,000, apologize to her and write her three letters of recommendation. Caroline Owen, who now teaches at another school, said she feels vindicated by the settlement.

Owens and another instructor sued LSU in 2002, saying that they were pressured to hide academic misconduct and change football players' grades during the 2000-2001 school year to keep them eligible for the Peach Bowl. In her lawsuit Owens said she reported grading papers ...
