Harvard Law School has returned to a policy that keeps the military from recruiting on campus. One day after a federal court ruled that colleges can bar military recruiters without fear of losing federal funds, Harvard returned to its previous policy, announced Dean Elena Kagan.
Harvard considers the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy discriminatory because it deters lesbians and gays from joining the armed forces. The feds told Harvard in 2002 that they would begin enforcing the Solomon Amendment, which permits denying funds to schools that restrict military recruiting on campus.
