Led by women, scholarship athletes are graduating at record rates in most sports, reported the NCAA recently. While rates for black male athletes have improved, those of white basketball and football players have declined.

The report said 62% of Division I scholarship athletes entering school in 1997-1998 graduated within six years, compared with 60% of all students. Female athletes continue to lead the way; 70% percent of female athletes graduated in the same period, compared with 63% of all female ...
