Jan. 25--They'll be flying in chartered jets or driving in family cars. They could stay in budget hotels, cruise ships and private beach-front homes.
Whatever it takes and however much it costs -- Eagles fans are going to Super Bowl XXXIX against the New England Patriots on Feb. 6.
Hal Roseman, a sleep-deprived travel agent in the Northeast, reported yesterday having stayed up all night celebrating the Eagles' win Sunday over the Atlanta Falcons and fielding phone calls from people who wanted information on game tickets, travel and hotels for a Jacksonville trip.
In the first 24 hours after Sunday's victory, his Rose Tours and Travel on Castor Avenue sold about 100 Super Bowl packages, Roseman said. The four-night five-day trip costs between $4,100 and $4,600 per person and includes airfare, hotel, rental car and Super Bowl tickets.
"It's crazy here, but good crazy," said Roseman, who has adorned his office with photos of Donovan McNabb, Freddie Mitchell and Todd Pinkston as well as a football autographed by Terrell Owens.
Joe Mascio, sales manager at Major League Vacations in Huntingdon Valley, said 50 people had placed deposits for Super Bowl reservations before Sunday's game. Since the victory, he said he's answered questions and sold packages practically nonstop.
"I can't tell you how many people we have because we can't put them in the system fast enough," Mascio said.
