Rohit Bose is in year 6 of the MD/PhD program at the University of Toronto. He is working in Dr. Jeff Wrana's lab at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital, studying the role of tumour-secreted transforming growth factor [beta] (TGF-[beta]) and its family members in disease development and homeostasis. In particular, he is interested in uncovering the mechanisms by which TGF-[beta] causes epithelial cells to acquire mesenchymal characteristics, a critical step in carcinoma invasion. In future, he plans to continue studying tumour biology to assist in the treatment of cancer patients as he pursues a possible career in clinical oncology.
