VENICE -- The Bradenton Gladiators made their debut in the Southern States Football League one to remember.
Gladiators quarterback Tony Hale scored on a 1-yard run in overtime as Bradenton edged the Venice Vikings on Saturday night at Venice High's Powell-Davis Stadium.
This was the first game for the Gladiators. The Vikings are playing in only their second season.
In overtime, the Gladiators drove 63 yards on eight plays. Key plays were a 29-yard pass from Hale to Bon Bean and a 15-yard keeper by Hale down to the Venice 16-yard line.
