SARASOTA -- Unlike some of his contemporaries, Frankie Valli doesn't mind at all that he's considered an oldies act.
He doesn't try to tread new artistic ground in his concerts. He knows the audience hopes to revisit their favorite Four Seasons' songs, and he's happy to oblige.
"They're going to hear a lot of our hits," Valli said in a phone interview. "That's what they come for. If the audience wanted to hear Joe Blow songs, they'd go see Joe Blow."
Sure, Valli said, sometimes he'd like to break out and do some other kinds of material. But that wouldn't be fair to the people who spend money to see him …
