MANATEE COUNTY -- It's like rubbing salt into a wound. Not only are residents of the tony Magnolia Hammock development getting a fire station in their back yard -- they may have to pay extra for it, too.

If the Southern Manatee Fire Rescue District moves ahead with litigation against Neal Custom Homes, the legal fees that aren't in the fire district's budget could force residents' tax bills to go up, Chief Tom Hennessy said Thursday.
