Tempers are flaring about the widening to eight lanes of the intersection of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and State Road 70.

Lakewood Ranch Community Development District 1 supervisors say developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch isn't keeping its promises.

Supervisors agreed last summer to sign over land to the county and SMR for the project, but acknowledged the widening was not popular with residents, especially in Summerfield.

People owning homes homes with back yards along Lakewood Ranch Boulevard wanted a barrier. Supervisors said SMR promised one.
