SARASOTA COUNTY -- A circuit judge on Wednesday overturned a charter amendment that limits county commissioners to two terms.

The decision by Judge Deno Economou could allow some commissioners whose second terms will be up in the next few years to run again if they'd like.

"It's nice to know that I have options," said Commissioner Nora Patterson, who completes her second term next year.

Patterson said that she isn't sure whether she will run again; that decision is at least a year away.
