Talk about a "carry contest." That's what it obviously was in last week's Professional Bowlers Association El Paso Classic.

For example, Hugh Miller averaged 256.3 and finished 17th, and Eugene McCune was 22nd despite averaging 259.1.

Parker Bohn III utilized a 14-3 match-play mark to win his 30th career title, even though averaging "only" 251.5.

No less than 10 of the 16 bowlers who were beaten in the Round of 32 averaged more than 230 in losing their matches.

It took a whopping 235.07 average just to make the cut to match play, and 12 other players who averaged 230 or better didn't even qualify.
