We expect to see eco-friendly green-mobiles at the Los Angeles auto show as carmakers roll out their cleanest, world-saving wonders to show the all-powerful California Air Resources Board how sensitive they are about the environment. And they are there in force, from the Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle to the hydrogen-powered BMW H2R.
But green hysteria is based on a flawed assumption that L.A. greenies never give a thought to performance. Enter the production Fetish, making its North American debut, from French sports car maker Venturi.
Though we hoped for a shoe (hey-we're entitled to a fetish or two of our own), the Fetish is actually a quite attractive two-seat roadster made entirely of carbon fiber. Sticker price will be $600,000 when the car goes on sale here in January 2006. That's assuming Venturi can win federal approval of the Fetish by then.
