DULUTH, Minn. _ On a snowy Sunday, four friends gather at Duluth's Hartley Park for a little winter outing.
No, they're not headed for the impeccably groomed cross-country ski trails.
No, they're not lashing themselves into snowshoes for a romp in the park's sprawling woods.
They're going out for a little bike ride.
For these four riders _ Kurt Lange, Chris Finch, Heidi Hebert and Jay Giddings _ biking is not just a summer pursuit. Like a handful of other riders in the Twin Ports, they have discovered the joy of pedaling on packed trails.
``To have a balanced lifestyle, you can't just hang it up in the winter,'' says Lange, 45. ``We need to ride because it clears out your head and gives you good bonding time with the boys and the girls_your crew.''
For 36-year-old Finch, biking is simply too enjoyable to quit.
