Steve Brookstein Becoming only the third of 154 number one singles this century not to make its Top 40 debut at the apex, X-Factor winner Steve Brookstein's Against All Odds takes advantage of a post-Christmas slump in sales of Band Aid 20 to jump 2-1, even though its own sales are down 79.3% week-on-week. Brookstein's version of Against All Odds is the second to reach the top, following the Mariah Carey & Westlife version in 2000. Phil Collins' version peaked at two in 1984, trailing first Lionel Richie's Hello and then Duran Duran's The Reflex.
