The British music scene over the past couple of years has been really exciting and UK acts are once again appearing on the creative edge internationally as well as domestically.

It must be a few years since so many new British acts have sold records in such numbers in the US, with Franz Ferdinand, Joss Stone and Lostprophets well over the gold status and heading for platinum, and Snow Patrol and Keane heading for gold status.

Breaking an act in America is not an easy task and takes real commitment from the artists themselves in terms of promotion, extensive touring and the "dreaded radio shows". On the business side it also takes a huge commitment from the managers.

It also takes a complete understanding of how "America works" from the British record companies, not only in terms of our support but in terms of allowing for the time needed to break America.
