Jakarta, Jan 15 (ANTARA) - A tectonic earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted Ujung Kulon, Banten province, at 08.47 p.m. on Saturday with people in Indonesia's capital city of Jakarta and surrounding areas feeling it also.

"The tremor lasted about 10 minutes," Lukito, a staffer at the Meteorolgy and Geophysics Agency (BMG) here, said.

According to the BMG's visual equipment, the tremor was recorded at 2 on the modified mercally intensity (MMI).
