Cup champs to Rolex
Ford will enter three of its NASCAR stars in Grand-Am's Daytona 24 Hour Feb. 5-6.
2004 Cup champ Kurt Busch will partner with Roush teammates Matt Kenseth, the 2003 Cup champion, and Greg Biffle in a Crown Royal-sponsored, Ford-powered Multimatic chassis. Multimatic regular Scott Maxwell will be the fourth driver. Robert Yates Racing will build the engines.
Labontes, too
NASCAR veterans Bobby and Terry Labonte will also team up in the Daytona 24 Hour. The Labontes, who won NASCAR's Winston Cup three times between them, bought the factory Doran JE-4 that won one round of last year's Grand-Am series, running a limited number of races in the 14-round championship. The Pontiac-powered car will be run by the Doran team.
Da Matta will race
Cristiano da Matta is scheduled to return to competition for the first time since being dropped by the Toyota Formula One team last year. He will run the Daytona 24 Hour in a Crawford-Ford DP03 alongside actor Paul Newman, Sebastien Bourdais and Michael Brockman.
