Most news-talk radio stations around the country broadcast traffic reports every 10 minutes or so. But as many a commuter can attest, in those 10 minutes you can find yourself hopelessly stuck in traffic while waiting for an update. Thanks to some new technology and a few Earth-orbiting satellites, you can avoid those delays with real-time traffic updates via your vehicle's navigation system.
From the same folks who brought us XM satellite radio comes XM NavTraffic, a continuous 24-hour update of traffic information from some of the largest metropolitan areas around the country.
The first aftermarket navigation system designed to take advantage of XM NavTraffic, Pioneer Electronics' AVIC-N2 with XM NavTraffic goes on sale in March at a suggested retail price of $2,550. XM NavTraffic also is available in a factory-installed system in the Acura RL.
