Jan. 7--PHUKET, Thailand -- The tsunami survivors have faced the loss of friends and family, of their homes and livelihoods. But even now, nearly two weeks after the disaster, unforeseen threats continue to emerge.

The Russian mafia is one of them, said Bussarakham Panyawai, the managing director of Phuket-based Previet Travel.

A meeting between state and tourism agencies and chaired by Tourism Minister Sonthaya Khunpluem yesterday took on a sombre mood after Mrs Bussarakham tearfully told the audience that she now feared for her life after receiving threats from Russian mobsters to refund money paid for holiday tours.
