Jan. 7--The tsunami that struck southern Thailand on Dec 26 claimed the life of Orapim Milindasuta, the first Thai and first woman to head the Thailand operations of the US consumer product giant Procter & Gamble.
The 39-year-old Ms Orapim, managing director of P&G Thailand, was on holiday in Phuket at the time of the disaster.
Amardeep Khosla, head of external relations for P&G Thailand, said the company had not made a decision on a successor to Ms Orapim. In the meantime, P&G's president for Asean, Australasia and India, Chip Bergh, is staying closely involved with the Thailand operation, which had sales of about six billion baht last year.
