Jan. 6--Owners of two Le Meridien hotels in Phangnga and Phuket damaged by the tsunami plan to renovate the properties and will not move from the existing sites.

Authorities are discussing a new land use plan for the stricken coastal areas that would involve moving some tourist facilities farther inland to reduce risks.

London-based Le Meridien Hotels and Resorts manages Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort and Le Meridien Khao Lak Beach and Spa Resort in Phangnga.

At the earliest, the Khao Lak property, which was heavily damaged, could reopen in November while the Phuket resort could resume operations as ...
