Jan. 5--Insurance companies say they need a few more days to survey and adjust damages before paying insurance claims to tsunami-stricken properties.
"Those who had bought insurance that covers risks from earthquakes will be paid absolutely," said Suchin Wanglee, the president of the General Insurance Association.
Damage from flooding caused by earthquakes will be covered as well, but not damage caused by flushing water, he said.
