Big 5 Sporting Goods broke out of a cup-without-handle base in November. It stalled and then pulled back to its 50-day moving average. Since late December it's run up in lower volume. It hit an all-time intraday high Monday but closed lower.
The sporting goods retailer runs 309 stores in 10 Western states. It carries gear for team sports, fitness, camping, golf and other activities.
Profit growth slowed from 58% to 25% to 23% in the past two quarters. Sales growth also slowed. But analysts polled by First Call see 2004 yearly earnings of $1.61, up 29%. And estimates have been ...
