Abbas rejects move vs. militants

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas said he would never take up arms against militant groups because they are "freedom fighters." Abbas has called for an end to the anti-Israeli violence, but said he will achieve it through "dialogue and discussion." A poll showed 65% of Palestinians plan to vote for Abbas in the Jan. 9 presidential election. The militant group Hamas is calling for an election boycott.
