Delta Air expected to trim fares
The No. 3 air carrier is planning to expand nationwide a pricing structure that led to cheaper tickets and more passenger traffic at its Cincinnati hub, said published reports, citing unnamed sources. In August, Delta Air cut its top fares as much as 60% in Cincinnati and slashed the number of fares available to 6 vs. 40. Delta has said the changes helped win back customers who had driven to nearby cities to get cheaper fares. Shares rose 1% to 7.56.
** United Airlines secured tentative pacts with the Professional Airline Flight Control Association and the Transport Workers Union to cut costs. Shares rose 8.5%.
Yugo seller to tout Chinese cars
Auto entrepreneur Malcolm Bricklin, who brought Yugo and Subarus to the U.S., is becoming the 1st mass importer of low-cost Chinese cars to the country. China's Chery Automobile has signed a deal with Bricklin and his Visionary Vehicles firm. They aim to sell 250,000 vehicles in 5 models during the 1st year.
