Jan. 4--Consumers are highly likely to pay more money for packed rice this year due to dry weather conditions, rising export prices and a slight decline of world supply, according to Rut Subritran, managing director of Patum Rice Mill and Granary Plc, a major local rice packer.
The price of a five-kilogramme bag of Hom Mali or fragrant rice will rise from 110 baht to 130 baht, according to Mr Rut, whose company packs and distributes the Mah Boonkrong brand of rice.
