The Nasdaq ended a quiet week with a small loss Friday. The composite eased 0.1%, the Nasdaq 100 0.2%.
For the week, the Nasdaq gained 0.7%. For the year, it advanced 8.6%.
Dialysis Corp. of America surged 5.22, or 27%, to a new high of 24.43 on its heaviest trade ever, as more than 3.1 million shares changed hands. The stock blasted to a high of 30.50 intraday.
Reached by IBD, CEO Stephen Everett said he didn't know why the stock notched such a big gain. A Nasdaq official declined to comment on the move.
The operator of kidney dialysis centers stepped up sales growth the past four quarters from 12% to 44%. Its Medical-Outpatient/Home Care group on Friday ranked No. 29, up from No. 159 eight weeks earlier.
Phazar bounced 2.31 to a new closing high of 49.06. The maker of custom antennas and other wireless gear logged volume nearly six times above average while extending its winning streak to six straight sessions. The stock has soared more than 740% since starting its big-volume run Nov. 19.
