Study: Urban slayings fell in '04

Homicides fell sharply in Chicago from 600 in '03 to 445 in '04, according to an AP survey. Other large cities, including New York and Washington, had smaller declines. More aggressive patroling was credited. St. Louis, Detroit and Baltimore saw a rise in slayings.
