A response from the ministry of Education and sports to the recommendations of the parliamentary committee on socials services has saved Tororo girls' school and Masaba SS from being closed.
The parliamentary committee on social services after touring the two schools had recommended that they be closed immediately for the safety of children.
normally when a committe reccommends that a school be closed it is for reasons such as poor sanitation, or lack of a lincense or lack of basic facilities necessary for the comfort and well being of students
According to the parliamentary committee's report handed to the clerk to parliament, the tour of Eastern schools revealed that the traditional giant and once shining schools are in shambles and required urgent renovation and overhaul.
In response however the ministry of education and sports says that they are aware of the deteriorating standards of the physical structures in traditional national boarding schools but that because of budgetary constraints, the schools cant be renovated immediately.
