Dec. 31--Winston-Salem economic officials said yesterday that they are attempting to hire Triad contractors for the bulk of the $15 million in site-preparation work required for a proposed Dell Inc. plant.
But the contractors must be able to meet tight time and cost constraints to land the contracts, the officials said.
Dell plans to begin construction in late January on the 500,000-square-foot plant in Alliance Science and Technology Park. The company's goal is start assembling desktop computers as early as September.
