High HIV-2 prevalence reported in Bombay. (India)

Researchers investigating the explosive spread of HIV in Bombay, India, have discovered a high prevalence of HIV-2 infection.

The research team of Helga Rubsamen-Waigmann, Ursula Dietrich, A. Pfutzner and colleagues of Georg-Speyer-Haus, Frankfurt, Germany, reported at the VII International Conference on AIDS that they had found evidence of HIV-2 infection in Bombay. But more recent findings by this team confirm their most dire predictions.
