US Airways reservationists, airport agents approve contract with cost-savings.

Dec. 24--US Airways reservationists and other airport agents represented by the Communications Workers of America approved a new contract yesterday that gives the bankrupt airline some cost-savings.

The contract, which covers about 6,000 active agents and runs through 2011, was approved by a 60 percent vote, the CWA said.

In addition to the cost-savings, the settlement allows US Airways Group Inc. to go forward with its plans to consolidate its Winston-Salem and Pittsburgh reservation centers. David Castelveter, a spokesman for the airline, said this month that no decision had been made as to which center would remain open. …
