Dec. 22--The Pueblo Board of Water Works is warily watching a Chaffee County water proposal to claim recreational water rights in the Arkansas River.
Chaffee County is planning to file a recreational in-stream diversion right to protect flows in the river for the rafting industry, said Bud O'Hara, water resources manager, at Tuesday's meeting.
The rights would be on the river through Salida and near Buena Vista and similar to the rights Pueblo obtained for a kayak course on the Arkansas through central Pueblo.
