Nudist club must close after 68 years.

Britain's oldest nudist club, based in the Westcountry, has been closed down - leaving its colony of naturists frantically searching for a new home.

The North Devon Club, based at Metherell Towers near Beaworthy, was established in 1936 by journalist, writer and photographer Edward Hemingway - a cousin of the American author, Ernest Hemingway.

Members of the colony claim they learnt of their eviction via an e-mail sent from the new owner of the site, Bill Wilson, to just one of the club's members. In it, he stated the 250 naturists - each of whom pay around GBP500 a year to use one of 110 static caravans on the site as …
