Dec. 18--Waterbury-based Traver Electric Motor Co. Inc. has made the first acquisition in its 66-year history, buying Torrington-based Torrington Electric Motor Repair Inc. and expanding its Litchfield County presence.

The deal, which closed earlier this month, not only gives Traver Electric Motor a satellite operation, but expands its opportunities to service smaller motors, said Jack E. Traver Jr., vice president of Traver Electric Motor and president of its sister-company, Industrial Drives and Controls Inc. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
