The next generation of Jaguar's bonded-aluminum XJ chassis will underpin the new XK sports car when the V8-powered aluminum-bodied coupe debuts in early 2006.
Spied testing near Jaguar's Coventry engineering center, the new XK is about the same length as today's model but is wider, has a longer wheelbase and shorter rear overhang. The disguise on this prototype hides a muscular-looking two-door bodyshell, with a more sculpted look than today's curvaceous XK. At the front is the hallmark E-Type-inspired oval air intake.
