The annual Race of Champions, a December event for 16 of the world's top drivers, has for years been held in the balmy Canary Islands. This year it switched to Paris, where seasonal wind and chill is comparable to New York minus the snow. Though the event would be held in an outdoor soccer stadium, NASCAR runner-up Jimmie Johnson needed no coaxing from organizers to take part. He had his pseudo boss, Jeff Gordon, barking orders into his ear.
"Jeff was so adamant: `You have to do this, Schumacher will be there,''' Johnson said. "He wouldn't take no for an answer.''
Hmmm. Wonder which Schumacher Gordon was referring to? Michael ...
