Winston-Salem, N.C., employers say they'll maintain work force in first quarter.

Dec. 14--A majority of Winston-Salem employers are content to enter the new year with current staff levels, according to a survey by Manpower Inc. released yesterday.

The Manpower Employment Outlook found that 68 percent of the city employers surveyed plan to maintain their work force levels during the first quarter. The agency does not disclose how many employers it surveys in individual markets.

Just 25 percent of employers said they would add temporary staff in the first quarter, down from 36 percent in the fourth quarter and 48 percent in the first quarter of 2003.
