Dec. 10--The Salt Lake City School Board has approved issuing up to $40 million in bonds to rebuild Glendale Middle School, and Highland Park and Washington elementary schools.
Voters in 1999 approved $136 million in bonds to pay for a multiyear project that would rebuild 17 Salt Lake City School District schools, build two elementary schools and retrofit other schools with renovations, such as seismic and air-conditioning upgrades.
Kent Stephens, district business administrator, said Salt Lake has issued about half of the $136 million to date.
