Dec. 9--CARLSBAD, Calif. -- The Carlsbad Unified School District may turn to its smallest high school program to take some of the pressure of a growing high school population off Carlsbad High School.
District projections show that the number of high school-age students in the district -- now about 3,200, with 3,000 at Carlsbad High and 200 in alternative programs -- will grow to more than 3,900 over the next several years. The growth would peak with Carlsbad High serving about 3,700 students.
