Dec. 7--A survey center at Wake Forest University is branching beyond the campus to provide economic research to area nonprofit organizations and companies.

The Survey Research Center, which was founded in September 2003, plans to conduct a Piedmont Triad Area Study in the spring, said its director, Ananda Mitra.

The center has been providing research for students and faculty members at the university and at the university's medical school. Mitra, who was named the center's director in October, said that the area study would focus on such quality-of-life issues as education, safety and public services, and could become an …
