WASHINGTON - New Mexico can continue to issue driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants.

In approving the legislation overhauling U.S. intelligence agencies, Congress dropped a House provision requiring states to limit driver's licenses to U.S. citizens or legal immigrants. But House Speaker Dennis Hastert, an Illinois Republican, promised angry members of his Republican caucus to bring the provision up again on the first must-pass bill in next year's new Congress.

The House passed the intelligence reform bill 336-75 Tuesday night, and the Senate was expected to approve the bill today. …
