When asked if the car had enough computing power to get to Mars, Hermance was specific:
"Easily. So it should be able to take you to the grocery store, or even on vacation.''

Perhaps forgetting who he was talking to (a group of journalists), Axel Mees, head of Audi of America, said of the Volkswagen Phaeton: "It could be the best car, but I would still not buy it because it has the VW logo and because I have to go to a VW dealership where the salesmen are used to selling Jettas and Golfs.'' VW fired Mees nine days later. Technically, it said he left to pursue other options.
