SEC Act changes are afoot to protect investors in Thailand.

Dec. 6--Cabinet ministers will review proposed changes to the 1992 Securities and Exchange Commission Act aimed to help strengthen investor protection at its weekly meeting tomorrow.
Veerachai Veerametheekul, the vice-minister to the Finance Ministry, said the amendments would increase protection for investors in cases where brokerage firms collapse.
While in past bankruptcies of local securities companies, shares owned and traded for client investors have never been considered part of a broker's assets, authorities want to amend the SEC Act to clarify this position and ensure that investor interests are ...
